Who We Are Photography Project

The complimentary websites for Black Culture in Chicago and Así Somos present two sister photography projects which aim at shifting cultural and racial perceptions by highlighting the intrinsic goodness and authenticity of Black and Puerto Rican Chicagoans. Through captivating imagery and personal narratives, the projects challenge stereotypes and showcase the resilience, creativity, and richness of both communities. The two projects are part of a larger initiative from Who We Are | National Project, a 501c3, that will include photography projects for other ethnic and racial groups and be accompanied by exhibits, educational programs, and companion books—all with the goal of fostering greater understanding and appreciation of Chicago's diverse cultural landscape.
